Public education works best when it rises above politics. We all know that. Our communities thrive when our schools thrive.
I grew up on School Street in Stevens Point, raised by two teachers beloved by their community. I had a front-row seat to the role they played in a community they loved back.
It made me want to be a teacher myself. And then a principal. And then a superintendent.
Now I am asking for your support to be Wisconsin’s next state superintendent.
The schools I’ve led are community-embedded schools. My best work always focuses on deepening the core connections between schools, families, businesses, and residents. We welcome adults into our schools to take Certified Nursing Assistant classes and to use our advanced manufacturing equipment. Our older residents do water aerobics in our pool. Working with our business community, we developed a much-needed childcare center and we grew new certified apprenticeships to make sure students have access to the good jobs available right here.
We co-own Wisconsin’s public schools. Our schools and communities both grow into better versions of themselves when we all work boldly together.
That’s forward thinking!
That’s the Wisconsin I love.
And that’s the work I will lead as your next state superintendent.
